I hope that terrible windstorm of last week is a wakeup call to all those unprepared for 鈥淭he Big One.鈥� Only the power went out and some roads got blocked.
Imagine if not only your power went out but water, sewer, gas supply and part of your house collapsed so you had to sleep outside?
What if great stretches of the roads were upheaved and impassable and there was no one to help you for a week? What if the hospitals were filled with the injured and maimed, but no ambulance could get to you with your compound fracture?
All of those are real possibilities, and not being prepared for a little power outage is nothing compared with that. Take a lesson from last week鈥檚 really small example of what can happen.
