Really? Does anyone think that Alberta鈥檚 (and sa国际传媒鈥檚) fossil-fuel industry, which produces a minuscule amount of greenhouse gases when compared with the massive worldwide production from the U.S., Brazil, India and China, will really carry 鈥渉umankind over a precipice of global warming and rising sea levels鈥?

Please stop the exaggerations. At about two per cent of world greenhouse-gas production (sa国际传媒 overall) any reduction, even very significant, would only be setting an example as a good world citizen, but would never save the world from the dire consequences of rising temperatures and sea levels.

We in sa国际传媒 should strive to exchange fossil-fuel use for renewable energy sources in a progressive and measured manner that contributes our fair share but does not seriously damage our economy. We live in the second (or first?) coldest climate on Earth, with long distances to travel.

Fossil fuels are essential for our comfort, prosperity and well-being. Reductions should take place only at a pace that introduces economical alternatives.
