I鈥檓 a latt茅 chick. I don鈥檛 camp; I go to spas. So three days without power was not easy.
At first, I thought it was romantic. Prosecco, smoked salmon and whisky cheddar by candlelight in front of the gas fireplace canoodling with my husband. By Day 3, boiling water on the barbecue for coffee and taking what can only be described as a Viking shower in meagre light, the experience was wearing. The Little House on the Prairie thing gets old fast and I聽can certainly see why winters were miserable experiences in the frozen darkness.
We still had batteries and candles for a few extra days but it was disheartening to feel the chill growing in the house. Then, giving hope we had only a little more to go, sa国际传媒 Hydro made it through the fallen limbs and worked steadily in relentless rain. We could see the poor fellow in the dim dawn. We had power about 24 hours later.
