Re: 鈥淧R opponents are fear-mongering,鈥 鈥淓lectoral reform will empower voters,鈥 letters, Oct. 25.
I have just read in detail Elections sa国际传媒鈥檚 voter鈥檚 guide on electoral reform. I cannot believe that any competent government would forward such a document as the basis for one of the most important decisions a voter will ever make.
The proportional representation choices selected by government are three concepts only, two of which have never been used by anyone in the world. None of the concepts contain the detail and facts required for any rational thinker to make a sound decision.
We have no idea of the boundaries of our particular electoral district, or the number of elected candidates or number of party hacks or carpetbaggers that we will be burdened with. Even in the one concept that has been used in the world, we do not have a choice of what kind of party list will be used.
Apparently, Big Brother will decide after the referendum all these 鈥渕inor鈥 details. One fact is provided, that the cost to taxpayers will be an increase in millions of dollars for salaries, perks, administration and golden pensions for as many as eight extra MLAs.
Anyone gullible enough to purchase Florida swampland will love these PR proposals.
