Re: 鈥淢orneau defends measures to boost struggling media,鈥 Nov. 23.
The accusations by the Conservatives are unfair and unfounded.
I have a vivid recollection of a rally last election where Justin Trudeau was speaking to supporters. A reporter asked a question, and it seemed clear he was not a fan of Trudeau.
The crowd responded by starting to heckle the reporter. Trudeau stepped in and asked the heckling to stop. He reminded people of the importance of a free press, and explained that the reporter was doing a necessary job.
I cannot recall ever seeing a politician respond this way to hostile questioning from a reporter. Perhaps the Conservatives have some video footage of their leaders doing the same thing?
If not, they should perhaps move on to an issue with more substance, such as climate change.
