Re: 鈥淧M plans to make Senate reforms stick before next year鈥檚 election,鈥 Dec. 16.
Our prime minister has promised to make things more difficult for any future prime minister to make legal changes to his transformation of the senate into a more independent, nonpartisan chamber.
I hope that this is not an early empty election promise like the many that he made before the last election and never kept. He definitely sent a message to all parties when he made the Liberal senators independent, and it has worked wonders within the Senate.
It would be wonderful to see all senators independent, it would be the next best thing to a triple-E Senate that we can hope to get. Now if we can get the vote to replace senators during our regular elections, we will have won half of the battle.
I never supported him or his father, but if he rams this through, he has my vote. If I live that long and if he does not recommend any more Liberals for senators.
Maybe he just forgot that they were Liberal-leaners. Hum?
