It was hard to avoid the news, such an appalling diatribe, by anyone about another human being. And this, by the president of the United States.
To see and hear Donald Trump mock Christine Blasey Ford at a regular event for his 鈥渂ase鈥� supporters, and to hear them baying approval, was not only appalling and disgusting, but frightening, too.
These grinning, laughing, cheering supporters were holding aloft signs saying: 鈥淢ake America Great Again.鈥�
They have got it wrong. The United States was great before Trump, when it was generous and had empathy and was admired around the world. Now it is mean-spirited, ugly and held in contempt. We can live in hope that there are citizens in the United States who will stand up to this bully and the nastiness that is so pervasive across the country.
Only then will America be great again.
