With the legalization of the use of cannabis just around the corner, I am going to have to not only walk through clouds of cigarette smoke, but now cannabis smoke. I can hardly wait.
Cannabis can give a physical effect of being high or stoned, a change in perception and heightened mood. It can decrease short-term memory and produce feelings of paranoia or anxiety. This is just what we need in drivers: Impaired judgment and reduced reaction time.
I鈥檒l be watching out for 鈥渢he other guy,鈥� and I hope others will, too.
It will be interesting to see if traffic accidents rise in the wake of this legislation, especially with some of the younger drivers.
