Re: 鈥淧eople鈥檚 pipeline is flowing with contradictions,鈥 column, Feb. 26.
There is nothing illogical about the position of many British Columbians that we already have enough resources to supply our current and future fossil-fuel needs.
The logic is quite simple: The existing Trans Mountain and Washington refineries fulfil our fuel-supply needs, and we are economically dependent on those resources, just as other jurisdictions might be dependent on sa国际传媒鈥檚 softwood or natural gas. Therefore, we have an interest in protecting our existing fuel supply until we can transform our economy to electric vehicles.
But, at the same time, we don鈥檛 need or want to expand our refining capacity. There is just too much risk to our coast, and we already have enough tankers in our seas, as the columnist notes. The logic is there; you just have to let it sink in.
