Re: 鈥淎n 鈥榰nspeakable act鈥: 11 killed in shooting at Pittsburgh synagogue,鈥 Oct. 28.
As I look at the list of victims of the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, I am angry and sad, and hope we do not see more of this abhorrent hatred. However, this anti-Semite did not accomplish one of his objectives, to extinguish the eternal flame within the Jewish victims, which flows through their children and grandchildren.
Judging by their respective ages, it safe to assume that each of these victims had numerous grandchildren, grandchildren, children, nephews and nieces. Just as I am a son of a Holocaust survivor, who also lost numerous relatives I can never meet, the descendants of these victims have learned the hard way the true cost of anti-Semitism and racism.
The descendants of the Pittsburgh massacre have an obligation to continue the legacy of Jewish life, as I know and they know that this is what their loved ones died for, and what they would want.
We need to show that hatred cannot win.
