Re: 鈥淲oman found dead at Esquimalt fire,鈥 April 9. My condolences to Judith Burke鈥檚 family and friends. I watched in horror while neighbours and strangers did their utmost to help her escape that deadly fire.

Re: 鈥淓x-Oak Bay mayor remembered as 鈥榚ternal optimist鈥 by friends,鈥 April聽9. I was saddened to learn of Nils Jensen鈥檚 recent battle with cancer and his passing last weekend.

April 12: Britain has many benefits from EU

Re: 鈥淲hy Brexit makes a lot of sense,鈥 comment, April 7. Does Philip Hobson really believe that the populations of 27 other countries in the European Union were threatening to move to the U.K.

April 12: Saanich needs housing聽strategy

We are in the midst of a housing crisis and, unfortunately, Saanich has just passed a budget that does little to address this issue. Saanich is a district without a shelter or proactive plan on housing access and affordability.

April 12: Base immigration decisions on merit

sa国际传媒 needs more doctors, nurses and pharmacists. I think we should fast-track such people when it comes to immigration. People without job qualifications should go to the back of the line.

April 11: Go ahead and pay more for gas

Re: 鈥淧ay the true cost of driving a car,鈥 letter, April 9. It was nice to see the letter-writer say that she would be happy to pay twice as much for gasoline to fight global warming.

April 11: Wage increases will聽affect families

Recently, the provincial government announced a two per cent wage increase for the community-support sector, which provides service to individuals with developmental disabilities.

April 11: Eby gives too much information to crooks
