Trudeau gets orders from the fat cats

I have an image in my mind of a bunch of fat cats from the federal Liberal machine telling Prime Minister Justin Trudeau: 鈥淵ou鈥檒l do it our way, sonny.

Ironic that grain firm is China target

Re: 鈥淐hina yanks Canadian canola-export permit,鈥 March 6. It is ironic that the Chinese government is targeting the Richardson Grain Company of Winnipeg, whose former leader, James Richardson, was the first of Pierre Trudeau鈥檚 finance ministers.

Make Victoria bloom again

The time has come to resurrect the Crystal Garden, that tourist gem in the heart of downtown, into a world-class herbarium greenhouse to rival the popularity of Kew Greenhouse in London or Vienna鈥檚 Palmenhaus.

Decision was about Quebec pensions

It was implied that the reason Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tried to influence the attorney general not to prosecute SNC-Lavalin was to save Canadian jobs. This is total nonsense, as most of SNC-Lavalin鈥檚 jobs are offshore.

This CRA call was聽not a scam

Re: 鈥淩omance scams, CRA calls, top fraud list across sa国际传媒,鈥 March 5. I was well aware of the fake sa国际传媒 Revenue Agency calls that try to frighten seniors into sending money.

New levy forces cities to raise taxes

The NDP minority government has brought in a new employer health tax, effective Jan. 1. This tax is to offset the elimination of Medical Services Plan premiums.

We could all live in聽Vaanich

Reading an article that pointed out that Saanich would cease to exist if it amalgamated with Victoria made me ponder what the new entity would be called. I think Vaanich is a better alternative than Sictoria or, worse, Saanitoria.

Province must finish bus-lane project

Re: 鈥$16M OK鈥檇 to complete key bus lane,鈥 March 7. It is good to see another small bit of the Trans-sa国际传媒 Highway bus lane project proceeding. But the overall project of building continuous bus lanes from Victoria to the West Shore is in the ditch.

Let big parties have break聽from governing

I鈥檓 in a quandary anticipating the next federal election. What is worse 鈥 corruption, or an attack on our democracy? I would not be comfortable voting for a corrupt Liberal government鈥檚 despicable behaviour, an embarrassment to the country.
