As a homeowner and taxpayer in Victoria, I find it curious that I could be fined (up to six months after) if my sidewalk isn鈥檛 cleared of snow by 10聽a.m.

Re: 鈥淪nowstorm plugs roads, closes schools,鈥� Feb. 12. As our fellow citizens struggle with the recent snowstorm, it might be a good time to reflect on some of its positive benefits.

Re: 鈥淰ictoria council puts a rush on traffic calming,鈥� Feb. 7. Another brilliant euphemism from the spin doctors at city hall. Allow me to let you in on a secret: Traffic calming is, really, slowing traffic down.

Re: 鈥淭ake another look at polls,鈥� editorial, Feb. 8. The editorial was welcome, but just did not go far enough. If anything, reports using or mentioning polls should include, in addition to the name of the polling organization: 1.

Neither rain nor sleet 鈥� no, that is the post office. Surely this mantra of faithful delivery would not apply to the sa国际传媒 in this weather. Oh wrongo.

Thank you sa国际传媒 Hydro and oil-and-gas producers whose products are keeping us warm. Snow and cold weather remind us that hydrocarbons heat our homes or allow us to build hydroelectric dams to heat our homes.
