Poll by poll in Saanich North and the Islands

One of the most interesting ridings on Vancouver Island is Saanich North and the Islands. It was a riding the Liberals barely won in 2009, and is now up in the air with the strong campaign of sa国际传媒 Green candidate Adam Olsen.

One of the most interesting ridings on Vancouver Island is Saanich North and the Islands. It was a riding the Liberals barely won in 2009, and is now up in the air with the strong campaign of sa国际传媒 Green candidate Adam Olsen.

To get a sense of how the vote broke down in the last election, we've mapped out the results, poll by poll. Click on each one to see who won in that particular neighbourhood.

Right away, you get a sense of the interesting split - Gulf Islanders voted NDP, while the peninsula and Sidney tilted Liberal.

That explains at least some of the campaign strategy in 2013 - the NDP have focused heavily on the peninsula and Sidney, while the Liberals have looked for support on the Gulf Islands (most recently opening a Saltspring Island campaign office). The unknown factor remains the sa国际传媒 Greens - both in where they can poach away polls and in how that will influence the overall results in the riding.
