Celebrate Sidney鈥檚 Halloween Spook-Tacular

Halloween is one of the favourite holidays in the community of Sidney. And if you鈥檙e worried this spooky holiday just won鈥檛 be as fun this year, never fear.

Halloween is one of the favourite holidays in the community of Sidney. And if you鈥檙e worried this spooky holiday just won鈥檛 be as fun this year, never fear. The Sidney BIA has planned over a week鈥檚 worth of safe, delightful activities for your entire family.

Sidney鈥檚 Halloween Spook-Tacular is set to run from October 23 to Halloween night, when the entire community will welcome local families for safely-distanced outdoor fun.

In fact, the entire town is dressing up. Sidney BIA is still adding all the details, but, come the event, you鈥檒l be able to simply follow an interactive map to discover everything Sidney has in store for you.

You can expect a dazzling 鈥淛ack-O'-Lantern鈥 display of lights in downtown Sidney and pumpkins at the Sidney Pier, plus festive window displays by Sidney businesses and residents. The artists at ArtSea Gallery will also have their creative talents on display, along with beautiful lights throughout the town installed by the Town of Sidney.

Looking for something cutting edge?

One Voice Institute and Enigmatic Events Collective presents their first Halloweekend: A Myriad Experience. Step beyond the headset and into Vancouver Island鈥檚 first ever immersion experience. This All Hallows Eve, the tick tick tick of the Timekeepers clock will come to a grinding halt, threatening the balance of space, time, and most crucially, clocks. Assist the Timekeeper in a treasure hunt across the town of Sidney to restore balance across the realms before the end of Hallowe鈥檈n night. Join them on October 30 and 31 in a race against time, and for time, itself at the Sidney Pier Hotel.

Whether you鈥檙e two or ninety-two, we encourage you to dress up. Kids can submit photos in their Halloween costumes for a chance to win local prizes in a variety of contest categories. There will also be a colouring contest; simply download it from Sidney BIA鈥檚 website, colour and submit electronically for a chance to win local prizes.

The main event promises to be the most spook-tacular of all. Sidney BIA will host drive-in movie nights at the Mary Winspear Centre on October 29, 30 and 31, with two showings each evening. A kid-friendly early show will delight younger viewers, while the later movie will cater to an older audience.

This community event is completely free, but will be limited to 50 cars per showtime, so you must reserve your spot ahead of time through the Sidney BIA. Details as to when you can register will be released soon.

When you book your tickets online, you鈥檒l also be able to satisfy your Halloween sweet tooth by purchasing pre-packaged goodies (popcorn, candy, pop, etc.) from Star Cinema. Your treats will be delivered safely to your car on the day of the show. All proceeds for pre-packaged treats will go to the Saanich Peninsula Lions Food Bank.

Holiday community events are something Sidney BIA cares deeply about in Sidney, and this Halloween season promises to be more spook-tacular than ever.
