KABU, a that connects riders with drivers and offers them a contactless way to pay for transportation services that are safe, reliable and affordable, has just launched in Victoria.

The experienced tech company has a long history of providing safe and reliable services to riders in vehicles that are driven by professional drivers who have been screened and trained, who have passed a criminal record check, and who are monitored.

The Richmond-based company was launched in 2016 as a way for international students to connect socially, and has expanded safely as a ride-sharing app. It is the first ride-hailing service to be authorized to operate in all five regions of the province.

Need to ? Or ? Here are five great reasons to support KABU.

Your feedback and safety are taken seriously

KABU prides itself on following up on rider feedback in real-time. Any ride that is given less than three stars prompts a call from customer service to investigate the issue.

KABU educates its drivers based on rider feedback and is constantly working with them to provide the best experience possible for customers. Drivers must also complete a criminal record check.

KABU pays drivers a living wage

“We know how much drivers need to make, to earn a living wage,” communications director Martin van den Hemel says.

“The other rideshare options don’t care about drivers.”

Ensuring healthy and productive employment for drivers is a KABU goal.

“We are truly a Canadian company that operates with that Canadian business mindset,” van den Hemel says.

“If both sides don’t win, you’re doing something wrong. We have to treat drivers like royalty.”

Commercial insurance is not required to be a KABU driver.

鈥媃ou can catch a ride in a language you feel comfortable with

KABU has a unique feature – the ability to be connected with drivers fluent in many languages. This is a great feature for international visitors, who can specify their language preference for the driver.

Drivers have options

Want to work part-time only? No problem. Want a full-time gig? You got it, along with vacation and benefits for full-time employees.

Vehicles used by ride-sharing apps cannot be any older than 10 years. However, if your personal vehicle doesn’t meet the requirements, there is still an option to drive using a KABU vehicle.

“Driving part-time is a great way to supplement your income using your existing resources,” van den Hemel says.
