All-star Vansau returns to HarbourCats for 2018

An all-star outfielder and talented local infielder will be sporting Victoria HarbourCats colours for the 2018 West Coast League season.

An all-star outfielder and talented local infielder will be sporting Victoria HarbourCats colours for the 2018 West Coast League season.

Hunter Vansau, the Mississippi State slugger who was a WCL all-star in his rookie WCL season last summer in Victoria, and Jason Willow, the Lambrick Park grad who was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles last spring, were among four signings for the 2018 season that were announced by the club on Thursday.

Tanner Rempel, a catcher from Abbotsford who attends Colorado-Mesa, and Campbell River product Ethan Fox, who pitched in the playoffs last season for the HarbourCats, also signed on for 2018.

Vansau hit .359 with eight home runs and 34 RBIs for the HarbourCats last season.

Willow, a product of the Victoria Mariners of the sa国际传媒 Premier Baseball League, is in his freshman season at UC-Santa Barbara. He played for sa国际传媒鈥檚 national junior team at the U-18 World Cup last summer, hitting one home run and adding 10 RBIs.

The HarbourCats are expected to open the 2018 WCL season in early June.
