The Price was right for the Wenatchee Applesox in their home opener on Thursday night against the Victoria HarbourCats.
After two walks put a pair of base runners on, Parker Price hit a single off HarbourCats reliever Greg Casper to score the winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth. The 5-4 victory was the Applesox’ second straight over the ’Cats.
Isaac Mullins started the game for the HarbourCats (4-4) and went five innings, giving up four runs. Newcomer Luke Boyd out of Baylor pitched a scoreless sixth and seventh for Victoria before giving way to Casper (0-1), who was also making his first appearance of the season after coming over from the University of San Diego.
Reliever Connor Leedholm got the win for the AppleSox (3-4). He threw two innings without giving up a hit. Colby Nealy started for Wenatchee and went four innings.
Harry Shipley, Noah Prewett and Jake Garella had two hits apiece for the HarbourCats, who will play Game 2 of the three-game set in Wenatchee tonight. — TC
