There will be no medal round for Tyler Klymchuk鈥檚 Team sa国际传媒 rink from Langley and Victoria at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Fort McMurray, Alta.
Klymchuk, who hails from Langley, and Corey Chester and Sanjay Bowry of the Victoria Curling Centre, along with Rhys Gamache of Tsawwassen, lost both their playoff-round games on Wednesday to drop to 3-5 and were officially eliminated from the medal round.
The top three teams after the playoff round advance to the medal round, with the first-place team getting a bye to Saturday鈥檚 final (4 p.m.).
After a heart-breaking 8-7 extra-end loss to Manitoba鈥檚 Matt Dunstone in the opening round of the playoffs on Wednesday, Klymchuk fell 6-4 to Stuart Thompson of Nova Scotia.
Nova Scotia and Alberta sit atop the playoff standings with 7-1 records, while Manitoba and Ontario are at 6-2. New Brunswick and Saskatchewan finished with 5-3 records. Next up for sa国际传媒 is a match today against 5-3 New Brunswick.
On the women鈥檚 side, Team sa国际传媒, skipped by Corryn Brown of Kamloops, beat Quebec 10-8 in the evening draw to improve to 7-1. Shannon Birchard from the St. Vital Curling Club in Winnipeg tops the standings at 8-0.
The women鈥檚 final is slated for Sunday at 4 p.m.
