The finalists have been determined for the 2019 sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ U-18 girls’ and boys’ curling championship taking place at Juan de Fuca Club.
The Jensen Taylor rink from Royal City and Tunnel Town will meet Kaila Buchy of Kimberley in the girls’ championship game Sunday at 2 p.m.
Taylor shaded the Rebecca Douglas rink from Port Alberni, Parksville and Duncan — which includes third Brooke Reintjes, second Michaela Morrill and lead Delaena Reintjes — 6-5 in the semifinal game played Saturday. Round-robin champion Buchy had qualified directly to the final.
In the sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ U-18 boys’ provincials, Hayato Sato of Royal City will meet the Eric Colwell rink from Vernon, Kamloops and Invermere in Sunday's championship final at 10 a.m. at Juan de Fuca.
Sato had advanced directly to the final after winning the round-robin portion while Colwell edged the Connor Deane rink of Tunnel Town, Nanaimo and Duncan 5-4 in the semifinal game played on Saturday.
The boys’ and girls’ champions will represent sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ in the Canadian U-18 championships April 2-7 in Sherwood Park, Alta.
