Back to business for the Westshore Rebels at their training camp on Saturday.

The Westshore Rebels, of the sa国际传媒 Football Conference, opened training camp on Saturday and will continue through today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Westhills Stadium.

Key returnees include receivers Kaine Stevenson and D鈥橲aun Greenaway, and linebacker Byron McKinnon out of Mount Doug Secondary.

Looking to fill the quarterbacking spot vacated by Scott Borden, now with the University of Manitoba Bisons in U Sports, is new quarterback Mason Brown.

Brown is from Hamilton, Ont., and most recently played in U Sports for the Acadia Axemen.

The biggest hole to fill will be that left by the loss of 2017 BCFC rushing leader Trey Campbell, who has moved on to U Sports.

鈥淚 am excited to get this season started,鈥 said Rebels head coach Charly Cardilicchia.

鈥淎fter some of our all-star players aged out and moved on to U Sport teams, including Trey Campbell who was the number one running back in the BCFC, there were some pretty big shoes to fill. I have worked really hard this off season to bring exceptional talent to round off our already talented team.鈥

The 2016 BCFC-champion Rebels, the 2017 league runners-up, will open the 2018 season Aug. 4 in Langley against the Rams.

The defending BCFC champion Vancouver Island Raiders open Aug. 5 in Chilliwack against the Valley Huskers.

The home openers for the Island clubs are Aug. 11 with the Raiders hosting the Kamloops Broncos at Caledonia Park in Nanaimo and the Rebels playing the Okanagan Sun at Westhills Stadium.
