Blake Hannah from UC-Davis took the win by spinning a three-hitter over six complete innings, as the Victoria HarbourCats defeated the Cowlitz Black Bears 9-2 in a WCL baseball game Saturday night. Hannah allowed one run, no walks and struck out four.
Harry Shipley from Purdue pounded out two hits, including a triple, with an RBI and two runs scored. Kevin Collard also had two hits for Victoria while Hunter Vansau and Noah Prewett hit doubles and Po-Hao Huang a triple.
Victoria has won the first two games in the three-game set, which concludes today in Washington state.
The Bellingham Bells, 1.5 games behind, kept pace with first-place Victoria in the battle for the North Division second-half title and playoff berth that goes with it.
Bellingham edged Kelowna 4-3 Saturday, to set up the crucial three-game set between the Bells and HarbourCats, beginning Monday night at Royal Athletic Park.
