After dropping their first loss of the Western Lacrosse Association season in New Westminster the night previous, the Shamrocks returned home to drop a disappointing 12-10 overtime defeat to the visiting Maple Ridge Burrards.

The hosts managed to claw their way back from a 4-0 deficit just 6:36 in, but blew 9-6 and 10-8 leads in the third period. Luke Gillespie forced overtime for Maple Ridge at 18:03 of the third before another big crowd at The Q Centre.

Coady Adamson scored his second of the night in overtime, to go with six assists, and Aaron Davis added another for good measure in the extra session.

Victoria falls to 3-2 with the two straight losses, while Maple Ridge remains undefeated at 3-0.

It was a similar fate the night previous when the Shamrocks were down 5-0 in New West.

Shamrocks captain Corey Small returned to the lineup to record three goals (including the first three) and three assists for Victoria, which cut it to 4-3 after the first period.

Starting goalie Cody Hagedorn was replaced after the fourth tally, but returned shortly afterward as backup Matt Roik made a quick appearance. Hagedorn settled in nicely and made some key saves in the second period in which the hosts out-scored the Burrards 5-2.

Victoria took its first lead at 8:52 of the middle frame as Paul Brebber put the Rocks up 7-6.

Jeff Shattler had two goals and three assists for the Shamrocks while Rhys Duch had two goals and a helper. Greg Harnett and Adam Brown also scored for Victoria and Cory Conway continued his torrid assists streak with four more.

Mike Mallory had four goals and two assists for Maple Ridge while Gillespie added three goals and two assists. Colton Porter and Spencer Evans also tallied for the Burrards.

Frankie Scigliano faced 48 shots in the Maple Ridge goal while the Burrards fired 58 at the Victoria net, with Hagedorn facing 57 of them and allowing all 12 goals.

The Shamrocks will get back to work on Friday as the Langley Thunder pay Victoria a visit.
