Camosun to host 2018 men鈥檚 volleyball nationals

It was announced Wednesday the Chargers have been awarded the 2018 Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association men鈥檚 championship tournament to be hosted at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence gymnasium.

The women鈥檚 Chargers are hosting the 2017 CCAA national championship tournament March 8-11 at PISE.

Meanwhile, the Chargers men continue in their hunt for the Pacwest Conference championship three-peat when they close out the regular season Friday and Saturday in the Island derby against the Vancouver Island University Mariners. The Chargers-Mariners women鈥檚 games are at 6 p.m. Friday at PISE and 5 p.m. Saturday at VIU. The men鈥檚 games are 8 p.m. Friday at PISE and 7 p.m. Saturday at VIU.

鈥淗osting the national championship is a feather in the cap of any institution,鈥 said Camosun men鈥檚 head coach Charles Parkinson, of the announcement.

鈥淏ut that is next season and right now we are focused on the last weekend of this year鈥檚 league play and the provincial championships that take place in just over a week. As the two-time defending provincial champions, we have a rather large bull鈥檚-eye on our backs.鈥
