Canadian Tara Whitten stands fourth at the midway point of the sixevent omnium at the Olympic Velodrome.
The 32-year-old Edmonton rider, a two-time world omnium champion who has already won bronze in the women's team pursuit at the Games, finished seventh in the flying lap, third in the points race and eighth in the elimination race Monday.
At the world championships in April, when she finished fourth overall, she finished sixth in the flying lap, 11th in the points race and fourth in the elimination race.
Britain's Laura Trott leads, ahead of American Sarah Hammer and Australian Annette Edmondson.
The omnium wraps up today with the individual pursuit, scratch race and time trial.
