Casey Jackson helps Victoria Shamrocks halt skid against Thunder

The Victoria Shamrocks got back on the winning track, and in a big way, Wednesday night. The Shamrocks (2-2) halted a two-game Western Lacrosse Association losing skid by defeating the Thunder 14-7 at the Langley Events Centre.

The Victoria Shamrocks got back on the winning track, and in a big way, Wednesday night.

The Shamrocks (2-2) halted a two-game Western Lacrosse Association losing skid by defeating the Thunder 14-7 at the Langley Events Centre.

The game was tied 3-3 after the first period before Victoria exploded for an 8-2 scoring advantage in the middle period.

Casey Jackson had four goals and four assists to lead the Shamrocks while Chris Wardle had three goals and two assists and Jesse King a goal and four assists. Eric Molander had a goal and four assists and newcomer Braylon Lumb two goals and two assists. Other Victoria goals came from captain Matt Yager, Derek Lloyd and Josh Fagan.

Connor Robinson had two goals for Langley (1-3).

Cody Hagedorn made 35 saves in goal for the Shamrocks. Langley starter Brodie MacDonald made 26 saves before being chased from the net. Tyler Richards completed the game with 18 saves.

The Shamrocks’ next game is the Island derby against the Nanaimo Timbermen (2-2) on Sunday evening at The Q Centre. Then it’s back out on the road for a game in New Westminster next Thursday.
