The home-ice curse in Round 3 of the sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Hockey League playoffs continued on Friday night.

Not only did the Nanaimo Clippers’ 5-2 loss to the West Kelowna Warriors stall the Island Division champions’ opportunity to advance straight to the Fred Page Cup final, they are now left to stew until Tuesday to try and stay alive.

The Warriors and Chilliwack Chiefs will meet Sunday at 5 p.m. with the victor advancing straight to the best-of-seven championship series. Nanaimo will face the loser on Tuesday, either at home versus Chilliwack or away at West Kelowna.

The Clippers may want the game to be on the road as home teams are 0-6 in this round, the latest loss at Frank Crane Arena as all three teams are now 2-2.

Former Victoria Grizzlies forward Garrett Forster and Connor Sodergren scored 16 seconds apart by the 6:15 mark of the third period as the Warriors rebounded from a 2-1 deficit.

Kylar Hope had a pair for the Warriors with Quin Foreman recording the other. Nolan Aibel and Gavin Gould replied for Nanaimo.

Matthew Greenfield made 38 saves for the visiting Warriors, while Evan Johnson faced 42 shots in the Clippers’ net.
