The Nanaimo Clippers got an unexpected night off Friday when a power outage at Frank Crane Arena postponed their sa国际传媒 Hockey League game against the Cranbrook Bucks.

The defending Coastal Conference champion Clippers made use of that conserved energy with a 5-2 victory over the Victoria Grizzlies on Saturday night at the Q Centre in Colwood to move to 12-2 atop the conference standings.

The Clippers took a 2-0 lead into the third period on a goal in the first period by Ethan Mistry and in the second period by Michael Craig. Brody Waters, with his ninth goal of the season, and Jeremie Payant, on a penalty shot, made it 4-0 in the third period before the Grizzlies (6-6-3) countered through Anthony Carone’s and Nathan King’s first goals of the season. Mistry, however, sealed the deal for the Clippers with a goal into the empty net in the final two minutes.

Aidan Campbell was a factor in goal for Nanaimo with 42 saves. Oliver Auyeung-Ashton made 29 saves in goal for the Grizzlies. The Clippers power play was effective at 2-5 with the Grizzlies going 1-4.

Tyler Wishart of Nanaimo had two assists to be named game first star with teammate Campbell named second star and King of the Grizzlies third star on a two-point night.

The Grizzlies meet the Trail Smoke Eaters this afternoon at the Q Centre on Military Appreciation Game and will be wearing special third jerseys for the occasion.

Following today’s game, the Grizzlies will embark on a five-game road trip starting Friday night at the Town Toyota Center in Wenatchee, Washingon, against the Wild.

The Clippers will play their postponed game against Cranbrook on Monday night at Frank Crane Arena.
