Cordova Bay pro third at club nationals

McCullough moved up seven spots to finish at even-par 216 over the three-day event at PGA Wannamaker club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

He finished two shots behind champion Brian Hutton of Southbrook Golf and Country Club, whose final round 2-under 70 edged Danny King of the Magna Golf Club by a stroke. King struggled to a 2-over 74 on Wednesday.

Kevin Black, of Seven Hills Golf and Country Club near Port Hardy, finished tied for 32nd after shooting a 7-over 79 on a cooler, blustery day in Florida.

Bill Kelly, of Glacier Greens, tied for 49th thanks to an 81 which left him at a total of 9-over 237, five shots behind Black.

Qualicum Beach Memorial's Ross Mantell was 56th after his 6-over 78 left him at 238 and David Kuss, of Morningstar, slipped to 72nd after a tough 89.

A field of 73 Canadians made the cut after two rounds.
