With pool play officially over, both sa国际传媒 teams have easily advanced into the championship round of the 2017 Canadian Junior Men鈥檚 and Women鈥檚 Curling Championships at Archie Browning Sports Centre and the Esquimalt Curling Club.

The top eight (four from each of Pool A and B) advance with the women carrying their records forward. The men will start from scratch since they competed in unbalanced pools with Yukon not icing a team.

鈥淲e鈥檙e just excited to keep on going,鈥 said sa国际传媒 men鈥檚 skip Tyler Tardi, who defeated Northern Ontario鈥檚 Tanner Horgan 5-4 in the morning, but lost his first, 7-4, to Saskatchewan鈥檚 Rylan Kleiter at night to finish at 4-1 in the B pool. 鈥淲e鈥檙e not here for the easy run. We鈥檙e here for the long run.鈥

In men鈥檚 play, J.T. Ryan of Manitoba finished a perfect 6-0 in Pool A with Tyler Smith of P.E.I. and Alberta鈥檚 Colton Goller both at 4-2. New Brunswick鈥檚 Liam Marin 3-3 also advances to the championship round. They will be joined by Pool B鈥檚 Tardi and Northern Ontario鈥檚 Horgan, Nova Scotia鈥檚 Matthew Manuel and Ontario鈥檚 Matthew Hall, who were all 3-2.

In the women鈥檚 Pool A, Kristen Streifel of Alberta was 5-1 with Saskatchewan鈥檚 Kaitlyn Jones at 4-2. P.E.I.鈥檚 Lauren Lenentine (3-3) also continues on while Newfoundland and Labrador鈥檚 Brooke Godsland will meet Nova Scotia鈥檚 Kristin Clarke (both 3-3) in a morning tiebreaker.

In Pool B, Ontario鈥檚 Hailey Armstrong was dominant at 6-0, while sa国际传媒鈥檚 Brown (with Marika Van Osch of Nanaimo at third) placed at 4-2 along with Quebec鈥檚 Camille Boisvert. New Brunswick鈥檚 Samantha Crook and Northern Ontario鈥檚 Krysta Burns (both 3-3) will also play a tiebreaker this morning.

鈥淚 definitely think we had some tough games that we probably should have won, but there鈥檚 nothing we can do about that now,鈥 said Brown, who defeated Yukon 11-2 in the morning and dumped Nunavut 14-3 in the afternoon.

鈥淲e have two losses on the board so our backs are against the wall and we鈥檒l have to run the table from here on out, but I definitely think we have the team to do it. We have some big games coming up and we鈥檒l definitely have to bring our A-game.鈥

The bottom teams will compete for seedings for next year鈥檚 event in Quebec.

EXTRA ENDS: TSN will be in town to televise both the women鈥檚 and men鈥檚 semifinals and finals on Saturday and Sunday.
