Rhys Duch scored two of his three goals on the night and Chris Wardle had the other over that span as the Shamrocks closed to within 9-8 on the Lakers, only to fall 10-8 as Josh Byrne recorded his hat-trick goal with 32 seconds remaining.
The Burnaby win keeps the Lakers alive, down 3-1 in the best-of-seven Western Lacrosse Association semifinals, with Game 5 set for Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. at The Q Centre.
Victoria was without a number of key players as Cory Conway sat out, joining Jesse King, Doug Langlois, Ian McShane and Josh Fagan, who were all injured in the first three games of the series.
鈥淭he game was there for the taking,鈥 said Shamrocks head coach Bob Heyes. 鈥淏urnaby didn鈥檛 push us, they had a game plan to go on offence and get off. They packed the front of the net, making it difficult for us to get around or through them and it seemed to pay off.
鈥淥ur best lacrosse was probably those last 10 minutes of the third period. We need to have the urgency and really push the pace.鈥
Duch led the way with three goals and two assists, while call-up Braylon Lumb added two goals and two helpers. Captain Corey Small had a goal and five assists and Marshall King, Jesse's younger brother and also a junior call-up, had one goal and one assist. Jeff Shattler chipped in with three helpers.
Adam Shute made 31 saves in the losing cause as the Shamrocks had their eight-game win streak snapped. Zak Boychuk made 39 saves for the Lakers.
Byrne had three goals and two assists while Robert Church and Tyler Digby added one goal and four assists and one goal and three assists, respectively. Eli McLaughlin, Dane Stevens and Peter McFetridge also tallied for the Lakers.
Conway was injured in Game 3 when he was rammed into the boards. He finished the game, but was suffering from the after effects.
Heyes then went to a young lineup as he might have to do again on Wednesday.
鈥淚鈥檓 still really pleased with how we鈥檙e reacting to the adversity,鈥 said Heyes.
