Desperate Capitals upend Grizzlies for crucial BCHL win

The Cowichan Valley Capitals recorded an upset 6-2 sa国际传媒 Hockey League victory on Friday night against the Victoria Grizzlies.

The Victoria Grizzlies found out that a desperate team is a dangerous team. The Cowichan Valley Capitals (15-32-6), fighting for their playoff lives, recorded an upset 6-2 sa国际传媒 Hockey League victory on Friday night at the Q Centre.

The result moved the Capitals one point ahead of the idle Powell River Kings into the eighth and final playoff position. Cowichan Valley has one regular-season game remaining and Powell River two.

The Grizzlies, who have clinched are playoff berth, are 29-23.

Cowichan Valley took the lead in the first period on goals by Kevin Thomas-Walters and James Bohn with Griffin Wilson and Luke Haymes extending that to four goals in the second period. Haymes and Matteo Turrin rounded out Capitals scoring in the third period. Jackson Morehouse and Luc Pelletier scored for the Grizzlies.

Cole Schwebius made 23 saves in goal for the Grizzlies while McCoy Bidewell blocked 23 shots for Coquitlam.

The Grizzlies host the Coquitlam Express tonight in the Q Centre.
