The cone of silence continues regarding the sa国际传媒 Division of the Western Hockey League.

Provincial health officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, reiterated she is willing to listen but hasn鈥檛 heard from the league in a while.

鈥淚 have not received an updated proposal from them [WHL] in the last few weeks,鈥 said Henry, during her 颅broadcast media update from Victoria on Tuesday.

鈥淎s I鈥檝e said before, we鈥檙e happy to look at that. And I hope that if we continue on the 颅[infection] trajectory we are, we鈥檒l be able to salvage a season come March or April.鈥

The sa国际传媒 Division, which includes the Victoria Royals, is the only WHL division not set to return. The government of 颅Saskatchewan gave the go-ahead last week for the five teams in that province, and two from Manitoba, to play in a single-site bubble in Regina beginning March 12.

That follows announcements that the five Alberta teams will begin play Feb. 26, in a travel format with no fans in the 颅venues, and the five-team U.S. Division on March 19 in a format to be decided. Each team will play 24 games and there will be no playoffs. That leaves only the sa国际传媒 Division.

鈥淲e are in on-going discussions with sa国际传媒 health authorities and we are in the process of reviewing the details of our return to play proposal,鈥 WHL commissioner Ron Robison told the sa国际传媒 on Tuesday.

鈥淲e are hopeful that we can obtain approval soon.鈥

There is mounting speculation the sa国际传媒 Division will play in two bubbles, without fans, with the Royals and host Rockets based in Kelowna and the Vancouver Giants, Prince George Cougars and host Blazers based in Kamloops.

鈥淲e have received emails about thoughts that they [WHL] have had about different types of hubs. I haven鈥檛 seen that in detail yet,鈥 sa国际传媒 health officer Dr. 颅Bonnie Henry said, last week.

The WHL suspended play last March in the final week of the 2019-20 regular season and the playoffs were also scrubbed.
