To no one鈥檚 surprise, Rhys Duch added to his earlier league awards, named the team鈥檚 most valuable player in collecting the George Blackstock Memorial Award.
Duch, who finished with 43 goals and 58 assists in the regular season, led all WLA point-getters with 101. He had claimed the league MVP trophy in late August, as well as the top three-star award winner and, of course, top WLA regular-season scorer.
Duch also had 68 points with 30 goals in the post-season, which also led all WLA players.
Other team award winners Monday included: Taylor Northway and Ian McShane, as co-rookie of the year players; Chris Wardle as unsung hero (he was also a WLA winner); and brothers Jon and Greg Harnett were co-defensive players of the year.
The Shamrocks also recognized captain Corey Small, who was named the Mason Sheldrick leadership award winner and most popular player as voted by the fans.
Coaches Bob Heyes, Art Webster, Dave Lowdon and Terry Dennett were recognized for outstanding service and dedication to the game; and Greg Harnett was named the Chris Hall memorial award winner as the player with the most competitive spirit.
The Shamrocks finished atop the WLA regular-season standings at 14-4, but were eliminated in the league final in six games.
