The Victoria Shamrocks, leading 5-4 after one period, scored eight consecutive goals in the second and third periods en route to a 13-5 victory over the Nanaimo Timbermen on Sunday evening before 1,954 fans at the Q Centre.
The Island derby on the season between the Western Lacrosse Association rivals is tied 1-1 following Nanaimo's 12-9 victory over the Shamrocks earlier in the season at Frank Crane Arena in the Harbour City.
Victoria is now 3-2 overall. Nanaimo, which has not made the playoffs in 10 consecutive seasons, fell to 2-4.
Rhys Duch led Victoria with three goals on a seven-point night Sunday. Casey Jackson had three goals and three assists. Chris Wardle added two goals and two assists and Jesse King a goal and five assists. Rookie Tyson Gibson had a goal and three assists and Dallas Wade two goals. Veteran defender Steve Priolo added a goal and assist.
Jon Phillips led Nanaimo with a game-high four goals.
The Shamrocks are in New Westminster on Thursday at Queen's Park Arena to take on the undefeated (5-0) defending WLA champion Salmonbellies.
The Shamrocks return to the Q Centre on Friday night to play the Maple Ridge Burrards.
