Erdman departs, Hocking in as head coach of BCFC鈥檚 Raiders

The Vancouver Island Raiders of the sa国际传媒 Football Conference have made a second head coaching change in three years as assistant Doug Hocking replaces Jerome Erdman, who left the club to take a position with the Bishop鈥檚 University Gaiters of U Sports.

Hocking, who played pro football with the sa国际传媒 Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL, is a familiar fixture with the Raiders, playing a coaching role with the club since 2006. He did spend one season as a defensive coach with the Westshore Rebels in 2015.

Hocking has also coached with the Winnipeg Rifles of the Prairie Football Conference, the UBC Thunderbirds and Langley Rams of the BCFC. He rejoined the Raiders last season as defensive co-ordinator, working under Erdman, after one year with the Rebels in Langford.

Hocking will guide the Raiders through spring camp, set for May 5.

Meanwhile, the 2016 Cullen Cup-champion Westshore Rebels will play host to an open invitation camp, intended for all high school and community players in sa国际传媒, on March 24 from 1-5 p.m.
