Three key pieces to the defence will be back for the Victoria Shamrocks in 2017 as the team announced the re-signings of Tyler Burton and brothers Jon and Greg Harnett.
All three add toughness and grit and were key contributors to the team鈥檚 ninth Mann Cup championship in 2015.
Burton, 28, is also one of the Western Lacrosse Association鈥檚 best faceoff men. This will be season No. 5 for him in Victoria, where he now resides and works, along with the transplanted Harnetts.
Prior to joining the Shamrocks, Burton won a Mann Cup in 2011 with the Brampton Excelsiors.
鈥淚鈥檓 excited and thankful to be part of this organization for another year. We have the best fans in the league and a great lacrosse community with a lot of support,鈥 Burton said in a statement. 鈥淚 have the same goal every season, to win a Mann Cup; once you win one, you want another.鈥
Greg and Jon Harnett are back for their fourth and third years, respectively, with the Shamrocks.
Jon, 27, joined Greg, 26, in green and white after a 2013 WLA trade from the Coquitlam Adanacs.
The two, who were members of the Orangeville Northmen who won a Minto Cup in 2008, have not looked back since, becoming valuable members of the Shamrocks defence.
The Shamrocks鈥 season begins May 19 at The Q Centre against the visiting Langley Thunder. The team will begin camp on May 1.
