A final round-robin 11-7 loss to Sweden pushed sa国际传媒 down into fourth place in the 2013 Ford World Men鈥檚 Curling Championship on Thursday night at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.

Brad Jacobs鈥檚 rink finishes behind Scotland鈥檚 David Murdoch in first, Niklas Edin of Sweden in second and Denmark鈥檚 Rasmus Stjerne in third, following the completion of the round-robin portion of the 12-team tournament.

sa国际传媒 also lost its afternoon draw 7-3 to Stjerne to slide down the standings, dropping four of its final six games after starting 5-0.

It鈥檚 a familiar spot for Jacobs, who won the Brier from the fourth-place position.

鈥淲e know how to do it, we鈥檙e trying to stick with it,鈥 said Jacobs. 鈥淲e鈥檙e playing as hard as we can, and we鈥檙e playing our hearts out. It just hasn鈥檛 been working out the last little while. But we鈥檙e here to play as hard as we can until the end, so we鈥檒l see what happens.鈥

Scotland (8-3) will face Sweden (7-4) in the Page Playoff 1 vs. 2 game tonight at 7 while Jacobs (7-4) faces Stjerne (7-4) on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Page 3 vs. 4 outing.

鈥淭hat is fantastic. That makes me happy,鈥 Jacobs said when told of the day off today.

The winner of the sa国际传媒-Denmark game will face the loser of Scotland-Sweden in the semifinal on Saturday at 4 p.m.

sa国际传媒 places fourth because of losses to both Sweden and Denmark.

Scotland lost a 10-9 decision to lowly Finland (2-9) in the afternoon to throw a brief wrench in Murdoch鈥檚 hopes of finishing first overall earlier on. A victory would have clinched it, but a pair of three-enders cost the two-time world champion dearly.

Still, he had qualified for the Page 1 vs. 2 game, finishing no worse than second before the evening draw.

鈥淲e鈥檙e not too worried, really,鈥 Murdoch said. 鈥淲e wake up [Friday] morning and we鈥檙e in the 1-2 game. That was our objective, and we鈥檝e done that. We鈥檙e happy, real happy.鈥

Unlike Jacobs, who was more flustered than anything after watching Stjerne make some amazing shots in a game in which Stjerne curled 95 per cent in for a 7-3 victory. It was tighter than the score indicated as the Danes scored two in the ninth after being in trouble all end.

Stjerne made an incredible in-off for two, then ran sa国际传媒 out of rocks in the 10th to steal two more.

鈥淔irst time at the worlds at the men鈥檚 level, we got ourselves a good win there,鈥 said Stjerne, a world junior champion from 2009 in Vancouver, who finished 7-4 here.

His third, Johnny Frederiksen, made an incredible in-off of his own in the 10th聽end to kill another sa国际传媒 chance to tie.

Edin got an earlier 7-6 win over Stjerne in the morning to help his cause.
