Victoria鈥檚 Kevin Carrigan begins his chase for another mid-amateur title today as the 31st Pacific Northwest Golf Association鈥檚 Men鈥檚 Mid-Amateur Championship gets going at Bear Mountain Golf Resort鈥檚 Valley Course.

Fresh off a ninth-place finish at the recent Canadian Men鈥檚 Mid-Amateur Championship in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Carrigan, who plays out of Royal Colwood, will be among the 51 golfers teeing it up in the 54-hole event at Bear Mountain.

Carrigan, a two-time Canadian mid-amateur champion and three-time PNGA Mid-Amateur champ, will be one of the favourites to take the PNGA title this week as defending champion Jeff Ward of Bend, Oregon, is unable to attend. Last year鈥檚 runner-up, Brandon Lorain of Woodburn, Oregon, will be at Bear Mountain this week, as will Craig Doell of Victoria Golf Club, who won the PNGA Mid-Amateur in 1999 and 2004. And this year鈥檚 PNGA Men鈥檚 Masters (Over-40) champion, Jim Dunlap of Beaverton, Oregon, will also be in the field at Bear Mountain.

The PNGA is made up of golf associations from sa国际传媒, Alberta, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.
