GreyWolves outlast HarbourCats

While the best in the major leagues were meeting Tuesday night in San Diego, the Victoria HarbourCats and Gresham GreyWolves were busy in Oregon with some fireworks of their own at the West Coast League level.

It was a scorefest between the HarbourCats (25-6) and GreyWolves (17-17) as Gresham defeated Victoria 9-8.The Cats blasted 15 hits and Wolves 11.

Victoria jumped on Gresham starter Andrew Heideman for six runs in the first two innings. The GreyWolves touched HarbourCats starter Skyler Henderson for three earned runs, three hits and five walks in 21脷3 innings. Blake Hannah pitched the final four innings for the HarbourCats, giving up three runs to take the loss.

Tommy Jew had a two-run homer for Victoria in the second inning. Cameron Cannon, Matt Smith, Ryan Anderson, Matt Lautz and Jew had two hits each for the HarbourCats.

Victoria continues at Gresham tonight and Thursday before moving on to a three-game set beginning Friday night in Bend.
