On a night in which the Victoria Grizzlies were celebrating goaltender Matthew Galajda鈥檚 successful bid to represent Team sa国际传媒 West at the World Junior A Hockey Challenge, backup Tony Rehm put together a 25-save performance in a 5-2 road win over the Nanaimo Clippers.

Victoria鈥檚 domination of the sa国际传媒 Hockey League鈥檚 Island Division continued Wednesday as the team improved its record within the conference to an impeccable 14-2-1-1 and 21-5-3-3 overall.

Rehm improves to 4-0 on the season. He鈥檒l be busy until after the Christmas break as Galajda joins sa国际传媒 West for the international tournament that begins Sunday in Bonnyville, Alta.

鈥淲hen he got tested he stood up,鈥 Grizzlies general manager and head coach Craig Didmon said of his netminder. 鈥淭his will be a good test for him. It鈥檒l give us a good idea in what he can offer. Down the stretch we鈥檙e going to want to give Galajda a rest so it鈥檚 nice to see he can come in and get the job done.鈥

Shawn Parkinson, of the Peninsula Panthers, once again suited up as the Grizzlies鈥 backup goalie and Shawnigan Academy forward Lach Hadley also dressed as an affiliated player.

Jamie Rome opened the scoring at 11:50 of the first period and T.J. Friedmann made it 2-0 at 18:40, and the visitors took that advantage into the break. Victoria never looked back in racking up its fifth win in the last six games.

Justin Michaelian and Keyvan Mokhtari scored goals 27 seconds apart early in the second period for the Grizzlies, who led 4-0 after 40 minutes.

Matt Kowalski beat Rehm on a backhand early in the third on a Nanaimo power play, but Brett Stirling got one right back for Victoria. David Silye collected a second power-play marker for Nanaimo midway through the final frame to complete the scoring.

The Grizzlies welcome Wenatchee to The Q Centre on Saturday at 7 p.m. on CFAX Santa鈥檚 Anonymous night as fans are asked to bring unwrapped toys for donation.
