Two Canadian junior national team alumni from Abbotsford are among the four players the Victoria HarbourCats signed Wednesday for the 2017 West Coast League baseball season.
Six-foot-four freshman pitcher Carter Loewen is a 2016 draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays but has committed to the NCAA with the University of Hawaii Rainbows. Catcher Tanner Rempel, also from the Fraser Valley, is playing at Colorado Mesa University as a sophomore.
The two other signings will be teammates of Loewen鈥檚 from the University of Hawaii. Ethan Lopez is an infielder from Whittier, California, and Hawaii-native Kekai Rios is a Rainbows sophomore who played strongly as a freshman catcher and started 48 games behind the plate. 鈥攕a国际传媒
