HarbourCats answer the Bells in 10th inning en route to road win

The Victoria HarbourCats scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to defeat the host Bellingham Bells 4-2 in West Coast League baseball action Tuesday night before 2,772 fans at Joe Martin Field.

The Victoria HarbourCats opened a three-game West Coast League baseball series in Cowlitz, Washington, with a 4-3 victory on Friday night against the Black Bears.

The Victoria HarbourCats scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to defeat the host Bellingham Bells 4-2 in West Coast League baseball action Tuesday night before 2,772 fans at Joe Martin Field.

Outfielder Joe Casey and infielder Ryan Ober, who helped lead the Oregon State Beavers to the 2018 NCAA College World Series title last week in Omaha, Nebraska, were in the Victoria lineup and played their first game as HarbourCats.

Ober had a single in four trips to the plate, while Casey struck out twice in going 0-3.

Caleb Rickett homered for Victoria.

The HarbourCats, who beat Bellingham 4-3 in the ninth inning Monday night, clawed back to .500 at 13-13. The Bells (17-8) have already clinched the WCL North Division first-half title, and playoff berth that goes with it.

The HarbourCats and Bells will close out their series today with a U.S. holiday July 4 matin茅e.

The HarbourCats begin the second half of the season Saturday in Covallis, Oregon, against the Knights in a reprise of the 2017 WCL final.
