The Victoria HarbourCats blasted out 36 runs over three games in sweeping their West Coast League baseball series against the Falcons in Kelowna.

The final outburst came in a 12-2 Victoria victory to conclude the series Thursday night at Elks Stadium.

Victoria is now 18-13 overall and 4-0 in the second half of the season while pushing its win streak to eight games.

Although reeling from three consecutive losses, the road to the WCL championship still goes through the Okanagan as the Falcons (17-10 first half and 0-3 second half) clinched the North Division first-half title this week.

The North Division playoffs will consist of the winner of the first half of the season, Kelowna, playing the winner of the second half of the season.

Cole Weiss from North Carolina-Wilmington, who had three hits and four RBIs and two runs scored, and Hunter Vansau from Mississippi State, blasted homers to lead the Victoria onslaught.

Tucker Johnson from Baylor added three hits.

Victoria starter Jack Owen (3-0), the incoming SEC Auburn Tigers freshman who was named WCL pitcher of the week, staked his claim for more recognition by taking the win with six hits and one run allowed with seven strikeouts over seven innings.

Six-foot-four Liam Steigerwald from UC-Santa Barbara mopped up with two innings of relief.

The HarbourCats return to Royal Athletic Park tonight to begin a three-game set against the Bend Elks from Oregon.
