The Grade 12 slugger, who led all of U.S. high school baseball with 14 home runs this season at Eldorado Secondary in Placerville, California, has signed to play for the Victoria HarbourCats in the 2016 West Coast League season.
The six-foot-four outfielder is now headed to the Sacramento State Hornets of the NCAA.
鈥淲e have developed a great relationship with Sacramento State, bringing us players like Nathan Lukes, Gunner Pollman, and P.J. Floyd, who we hope to have return this coming season as well,鈥 said HarbourCats GM Jim Swanson in a statement.
鈥淢att has pure, raw power, and we know our park has reachable fences. We led the West Coast League in home runs in 2015. We think Matt will see his development aided here the same way P.J. advanced this summer, and how a year with the HarbourCats in the WCL helped Nathan Lukes get drafted and sign with the Cleveland Indians organization.鈥
