The Vancouver Island Raiders’ season came to a screaming halt Sunday afternoon as the sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Football Conference champions were dumped 48-0 by the Saskatoon Hilltops in a Canadian Junior Football League national semifinal.

Saskatoon, the Prairie Football Conference champions, now sets its sights on a fourth straight Canadian Bowl championship.

The Hilltops will travel to Windsor, Ont., to face the AKO Fratmen on Nov. 11. This will be the first meeting between these two teams since 1996, when the Hilltops won the Canadian Bowl 39-7.

The Hilltops downed the Westshore Rebels in last year’s national championship at Westhills Stadium.

On Sunday, they totally dominated a Raiders team that upset the Okanagan Sun in the BCFC semi-final before knocking off the Rebels in the Cullen Cup, both victories coming on the road.

That road came to a dead end in Saskatoon as the Hilltops used a powerful running game, which amassed 245 yards along the ground, and an even stronger defence, which recorded seven quarterback sacks on the day.
