Intermediate A Rocks earn silver

The Shamrocks fell behind 6-0 in the first period to the New Westminster Salmonbellies and lost the final 12-9.

"We were extremely flat in the first period,'' said Victoria general manager Rod Wood. "We were right off of our game and New Westminster took it to us. We had a very strong third period and trailed 11-9 when they scored an empty-net goal.

"It was a well-run tournament and all four teams were evenly matched.''

Victoria advanced to the provincials by defeating the Langley Thunder 2-0 in the best-of-three quarter-finals. Richmond Roadrunners and Coquitlam Adanacs were the other teams in the provincials. Coquitlam defeated Richmond 16-9 in the bronze-medal game.

"Our goaltender, Tanner Hodgson, had a real solid tournament,'' said Wood.

"Jake Cullen was named to the all-star team and our captain Max Fredrickson had a tremendous playoff. Max put it all on the line and showed great leadership.''

In the Intermediate B final in Burnaby, Port Moody edged Juan de Fuca Westshore 10-8. Coquitlam downed New Westminster 7-6 in the third-place game.

At the sa国际传媒 Junior B Lacrosse Championships at Bear Mountain Arena, Kamloops Venom doubled Delta 6-3 for the title. In the third-place game, the Saanich Tigers downed the Westshore Bears 7-3.
