The puck is ready to drop on the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League season. The Junior B league has scheduled a week of exhibition games, beginning Aug. 25, when the Westshore Wolves drive up the Malahat to visit the Kerry Park Islanders.
Following preseason action, the regular season begins on Wednesday, Sept. 4. First out of the gate in a South Division matchup are the Wolves, who鈥檒l play host to Kerry Park at Bear Mountain Arena, while other teams are quick to follow.
The Comox Valley Glacier Kings visit the two-time defending VIJHL champion Victoria Cougars at Archie Browning Sports Centre on Sept. 5.
On Sept. 6, Westshore goes up against the Saanich Braves at George Pearkes Arena, and Kerry Park tangles with the Peninsula Panthers at Panorama Recreation Centre.
New for the league this year is a partnership with FASTHockey to broadcast games over the Internet.
