Desirae Ridenour of Cowichan Bay and sisters Hannah and Holly Henry of Victoria captured women鈥檚 team triathlon gold. Ridenour and Hannah Henry were 1-2 in the individual triathlon race earlier in the week.

鈥淲e were ranked No. 1 coming in, so we were pretty confident,鈥 said Hannah Henry.

鈥淚 was just thinking how hard we have worked, and I was so happy that we could put it all together,鈥 added sister Holly Henry.

Aiden Longcroft-Harris of Victoria won gold with the sa国际传媒 men鈥檚 triathlon team.

The rowing events are taking place in Kenora, Ont., with Avalon Wasteneys and Lise McCracken, both of Victoria, winning gold in the women鈥檚 pair and adding another gold medal with the sa国际传媒 women鈥檚 eight crew that included Island pullers McCracken, Wasteneys, Antonia Frappell, Emma Gribbon of Victoria and Piper Battersby and Katie Pearson of North Saanich.

鈥淚t was really exciting to see such strong. . . . overall racing from all provinces. [It] shows the incredible depth of U-21 rowing in sa国际传媒,鈥 said Frappell, a Claremont graduate, who rows in the NCAA Big Ten for the Indiana Hoosiers, and won gold with sa国际传媒 last month at the world U-23 championships in Bulgaria.

The all-Island sa国际传媒 men's quad of Victorians Elliott Rogers, Tyler Adams, Brendan Wall and Rob Hodgins won silver. Adams added silver in the men's singles and Victorians Christopher Clarke of Victoria in the lightweight four and Elling Quaintance of Sidney in the women鈥檚 quad. The Victoria pair of Isaac Donaldson and Travis Gronsdahl were also silver medalists.

A total of 21 Island athletes have won medals so far in Winnipeg with the halfway point on Saturday.

There should be a further Island medals gold rush today with the second day of the Games rowing finals scheduled in Kenora.
