Calling colour on television at international tennis events one day, playing the next.
Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) CEO Robert Bettauer, an analyst for Sportsnet, will represent sa国际传媒 at the upcoming ITF World Seniors Team Championships in Antalya, Turkey, from March 18 to 24.
A former Canadian Davis Cup player, Bettauer will compete in the Austria Cup 55-plus tournament and will captain his side, one of 23 participating teams.
鈥淚t is a great honour for me to represent sa国际传媒. Tennis is a way of life for me; I stay fit, socialize and have fun at the same time,鈥 Bettauer said in a news release. 鈥淭ennis is about skill and fitness, and with seniors competition, it is often about the last man standing.鈥
The PISE CEO has also provided tennis commentary and analysis for more than 25 years at the Rogers Cup, Olympics and Davis Cup.
鈥淚nterviewing and watching top players like [Roger] Federer, [Rafael] Nadal and [Novak] Djokovic has improved my game. There is no doubt that if you watch top players, you will get better,鈥 said Bettauer, who has also held roles as the founding president and CEO of the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario and the director of tennis development for Tennis sa国际传媒.
Bettauer also previously ran Tennis sa国际传媒鈥檚 first Western Canadian high-performance training centre at UBC and helped coach the Davis Cup team, leading to coaching sa国际传媒 at the Olympic Games in Seoul and Barcelona.
Bettauer is also the chair of the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame.
